Martin Bauer Group “be fit – concept” is a trade show success

At the Health Ingredients 2010 trade fair in Madrid the Martin Bauer Group and its Plantextrakt business unit presented their new product concept. “be fit – extracts for body and brain” uses new formulations and ingredients based on the performance enhancing properties of natural tea and herbal extracts.

An ever increasing number of consumers are demanding foods that incorporate functional benefits and which are, at the same time, focussed on natural ingredients. Plantextrakt has now developed a concept that boosts physical and mental performance: be fit – extracts for body and brain.

Setting trends with natural ingredients
“With the help of tea and herbal extracts, we have succeeded in creating invigorating and stimulating foods that only use natural ingredients. Food manufacturers can set the trend with these product ideas,” explained Oliver Hehn, marketing manager at Plantextrakt. One of these trends are “energy shots”. With a light viscous consistency and served in 100 ml quantities, the energy shots deliver their highly stimulating power in a short period of time. The completely natural shot is made from a strong Darjeeling tea infusion and pineapple juice concentrate. It has the stimulating effect of two cups of black tea and is therefore part of the Energy line within the be fit concept.

Strengthening body and brain – in a completely natural way
Two further product lines complete the concept showcased at the trade fair: Body Vitality and Brain. The former focuses on physical performance and vitality. Extracts used from fruits and herbs such as Baobab, Acerola and others include fibres, Vitamin C, natural caffeine and polyphenols. As such, these extracts can contribute towards ensuring that our bodies function properly and keep going in their capacity as a perfect supply source.

Brain, the third line in the new product concept, is based on plants and teas such as Ginkgo, Ginseng and Green Tea. Their positive functional value on mental performance and cognitive abilities has been proven by the Martin Bauer Group in numerous independent scientific studies. In Madrid, a Green Tea drink very rich in Theogallin was showcased in a PET bottle. In human studies, the consumption of Theogallin indicated an improvement in cognitive function. “The trade fair demonstrated one thing very clearly: performance-enhancing beverages are more in demand than ever – especially when they focus on the use of natural ingredients. be fit – extracts for body and brain meets this requirement perfectly,” said Oliver Hehn.
