Plantextrakt Business Unit of the Martin Bauer Group at the Vitafoods 2010 in Geneva - Herbal extracts unite multifarious attributes

The Plantextrakt Business Unit of the Martin Bauer Group will be presenting SUPERHERBS, the company's latest product concept, at the Vitafoods in Geneva. The concept relies on the multifarious positive attributes of herbal extracts.

SUPERHERBS combine fantastic taste with diverse supplementary benefits of natural herbs

Manufacturers from the food and beverage industries will be able to discover the many benefits of herbal extracts on the stand of the Martin Bauer Group's Plantextrakt Business Unit between 18th and 20th May 2010. "There are many convincing arguments in favour of our SUPERHERBS concept, including fantastic taste experiences and valuable, scientifically substantiated, additional functional benefits," Oliver Hehn, Product Manager at Plantextrakt, explains. "Apart from this, our concept also opens up completely new possibilities in terms of costs: new combinations of juice and herbs can be positioned at a higher level and advertised to a better extent thanks to the use of herbal extracts - while maintaining or even lowering the costs involved."

Data acquired by the well-known market research company Mintel GNPD confirms that the Martin Bauer Group has captured the exact spirit of the moment with its new product concept SUPERHERBS: more than 1000 non-alcoholic beverages containing herbs have been launched onto the market in the last five years alone. Oliver Hehn continues: "With this in the background, we want to encourage other manufacturers in the food and beverage industries to focus on the pleasant-tasting, versatile herbal extracts to a greater extent and score extra consumer points with our SUPERHERBS at the Vitafoods."

A vast range of flavours - a vast range of possible applications
The vast range of possible applications enable SUPERHERBS to be used by the beverage industry and dairies, as well as manufacturers of baby food and confectionery, offering them a means of distinguishing themselves from their competitors in order to be even more successful in the market. "Although consumers are familiar with the flavours of many herbs, they are still regarded as being something special and out of the ordinary. Another point in their favour is the variety of taste nuances, which are made possible by combining natural herbal extracts in clever and unusual ways."

Another convincing argument in favour of herbal extracts is their high antioxidant potential. The Pomegranate-Grape Seed Yoghurt Drink from the SUPERHERBS product concept has an ORAC score of 8,700 points per litre, for example. This means that the yoghurt drink has almost ten times the antioxidant potential of a conventional orange fruit drink. Two cell-based scientific studies carried out by Plantextrakt also proved that selected herbal extracts exert a positive influence on skin cells. The company will be presenting the results of the recent second study on the company's stand at the Vitafoods fair.
